Pretty good beer. It pours with a thick white read that dissipates in about five minutes with a red amber color. The smell has a lot of malted barley, with a little hops. The taste is like slightly burnt toast and malt, with a ever so slight bitterness (the bitterness is just barely there). It finishes with a sweet coffee/chocolate taste. I think that other reviewer got a bad batch, it's a good beer. I'll enjoy the six pack I purchased.

Poured from pint can into schooner glass.
(Reviewed for a 2nd time after trading in ’bad’ beers for supposedly good ones)
Appearance: pours a thin off white head that recedes with just a hint of lacing. Color is a reddish amber with moderate streaming carbonation.
Aroma: roasted barley dominates the smell, picking up something akin to burnt toast. Otherwise there is a bit of ripe fruit, some yeastiness and some pungent earthy hops.
Mouthfeel: fairly light, somewhat fluffy and sticky with a somewhat dry finish.
Flavor: burnt toast, overripe fruit, an unpleasant bitterness and a somewhat alcohol dominate finish. Some definite off flavors that I cannot describe. Beer may be infected.
Overall: this beer is so-so. Definitely taste different from any other Irish Red I have tried (not in a good way). It seems to lack balance -- there is very little pleasant malt sweetness and the unpleasant bitter taste overwhelms the palate. The off flavors kill any possibility of enjoying this beer.
