Chapel Tavern is a tiny dive looking bar with a black interior with about 10 seats at the bar and a couple pool tables with chairs against the wall. This is an all license alcohol bar, which has mixed drinks as well. My better half joined me and seemed to like her drinks too. I looked at their 10 taps, and the bartender asked if I wanted to try something. And tasted a couple before settleing on a Pig's Ear (Belgian Pale Ale). I had a tulip of that.
For my next sample, I was shocked. He had Ola Dubh 18 on tap! I’ve never, ever seen this on tap, anywhere, period. ls. While I was sipping on this tulip, the owner came by and we chatted and poured a sample of Tim Taylor Landlord premium bitter.
I also split a bottle of Hansens Raspberry, which was not carbonated and the bartender insisted on comping it. After looking over the beer menu, the Chapel Tavern also had Cantillon too.
Excellent place, awesome service, would highly recommend. Prices are a little high, but these are not your typical craft beers that are served at a pub.

My wife and I love this little bar. Only a pool table in this place besides the gaming machines at the bar. Bartenders usually have their ipods playing music with two televisions in the background. Bartenders here are really nice and knowledgeable. Beer selection is outstanding! Beers on tap rotate out often so there is always something new on tap. Their bottled, canned beer and spirits selection is also great. Also make an awesome bloody mary! As far as prices I think for what they serve it's pretty in line with other places. Definitely check this place out if your looking for a place to grab a drink!

Located in the totally unscenic area between downtown Reno and Wells Avenue, in the former location of Mr. O's (underage drinking spot back when I was in college here), Chapel Tavern isn't in the nicest of places. Inside, mostly dudes, heavy, heavy smell of smoke like many divey bars in this shoddy section of Reno will be. A pool table, a few chairs, the place is now painted black, probably to cover up what the walls used to look like. This is where the negative comments end.
On tap, geez, is that Cantillon Classic Gueze? And only $7.50 for a 10oz pour? Damn, that's almost as cheap as getting it at a bottle shop, and of course, the quality was out of this world. Some mikkeller also on tap! Some other locals and typical hoppy fare. Really, amazing selection here, and the service was very friendly, wasn't room at the bar, they brought out drinks to us at the back of the room, even let me keep the delirium tulip after commenting how cool it was. The quality and service more than make up for the shitty location.
Even if the inside isn't the nicest, it does have a cool dive bar vibe, as opposed to places like the Hideout that just have a dirty clientele 'this is my day job, I play drums' type of I don't want to grow up and take pride in my failures at life thing.
I will definitely go have a drink at the Tavern Chapel again. Go for the amazing quality and helpful employees, not the surrounding environment.
