This was my 2nd beer of the evening at Brewery Vivant during a recent trip for dinner while being in town for work. This followed up the Farmhouse Ale.
This beer pours a cloudy, brownish-amber color that shows off a very light carbonation and a white frothy head that dissipates slowly to a thin lacing that is retained. 4/5 The aroma is quite fruity but with a bready and grainy backbone. There are nice notes of grassy hops and white pepper spice that really make their way to the fore along with a bit of herbal hops to round things out. 3.5/5 The flavor begins with a punch of caramel and pear, while quickly transitioning to apricot, white bread, and cracker notes. This beginning is quite sweet with a malty backbone. Following the malty and fruity introduction, herbal hops take over and lead into a bit of grass and white pepper spiciness that come along with a light bitterness that lingers after swallowing. 4/5 A light carbonation burn hits the tongue right up front before transitioning into a mild drying with a lingering dryness. Also, this beer is easily medium bodied. 4/5 This is really a well put together beer. The entire profile is well balanced and enticing, plus very drinkable without filling you up. The fruitiness paired with the maltiness is really enjoyable here and they work well together. 4/5
