Price unknown. Picked up at the brewery along with some other unmarked beers. Interesting that the glassware and knickknacks were priced but not the beer.
Undated 16 oz can served at hotel reefer temperature which happened to be 40.1 degrees. Served in a hand washed and dried Brewery Vivant snifter and allowed to warm to 54 degrees.
Aroma – very weak roasted malt.
Head – small. Maximum < 2 cm, aggressive pour. Light brown medium density creamy froth with low retention. Rapidly diminishes to a one to two mm ring and thin wisps of a partial layer.
Lacing – none.
Body – dark brown/black, opaque.
Flavor – Begins with a slightly sweet weak chocolate, fades quickly. The rye provides a slight spiciness which also fades quickly. Alcohol is absent. Hops are not noticeable. No diacetyl.
Palate – medium, almost creamy, lively carbonation.
A non-offensive porter that is distinctly a porter. The rye is weak and may make this a good gateway beer for those hesitant to try a rye brew.
Appearance 3.5, Aroma 3.5, Flavor 3.5, Palate 4, Overall 3.5.
