Tried this beer at home after tasting some of the other Brewery Vivant beers in class. I liked all their other beers so much I figured I would give their stout a chance. Very dark poor with a small light tan head. Aroma consists of coffee and malt. Chocolate was prevalent in both the aroma as well as the taste. Was a very smooth stout, just not for me.

On tap at Michigan Brewers Guild in Ypsi. Pours black with huge chocolate notes on the nose, very sweet, and very little head. Flavor is extremely smooth and heavy on the chocolate, big sweetness and full body. Hides the alcohol and goes down easy. Low to medium carbonation and thick and viscous. I though this was an excellent stout and would like to revisit it assuming they ever make it again.

Beer is pitch black with a large cocoa-coloured head. Decent retention, nice lacing.
Nose is a mix of stout and Belgian dark, leaning toward the former. Big dark chocolate scent with roasted malt. Also some Belgian yeast and a bit of dark fruit.
Taste is similar to the nose, but the dark fruit comes out more. Chocolate and roasted malt, along with red grape and plum. Balanced, but on the sweet side. Nice flavour, with the booze well hidden.
Full bodied, moderately carbonated. Chewy and smooth.
Overall, quite a tasty brew!

A good Vivant. Pours black with a small slice of retained head. Mild roast aroma. Smooth mouthfeel. Good drinking, lots of chocolate make up for an understated stout. A tad of anise and mild spicy finish. A few months' storage helped it alongCan from a generous friend, your name goes here.
