Served on tap at the brewpub.
Not really a biere de garde, this is brewed with biere de garde yeast ("and 100% Michigan hops").
Very dark red-brown with a small head that leaves little lacing.
Smells like dark roasted malts with a bit of funky yeast.
Taste follows but seems a bit more complex. Still, rather simple and dark malt dominated for a Belgian style brew.
Medium body with somewhat lively carbonation.
O: a nice Belgian scharzbier?
