From a 32oz growler poured three days ago.
Fresh Stout #3 blended with Stout #3 aged in Flag Hill Apple Brandy barrel for one year with tart cherries.
Pours a dark brown color with a very thin tan head, no lacing on the glass, all head completely disappears to leave a still looking top.
Smell has a mixture of roasted malt and sour cherries, both surprisingly work without trying to overpower the other.
Taste takes some getting used to, at first I wasn't sure if I liked it or not but I grew to like it, the roasted malt provided the backing with an upfront sour cherry flavor, slight woody presence in the aftertaste but the barrel aging is fairly light and I'm not picking up much of the apple brandy since the cherry presence is more dominating, carbonation is medium low and it's not very thick or sticky.
