Sampling a 16 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug. Picked up the can in late summer at a shop in Vermont. the canned on date is 12/21/2020.
The beer pours a rich cola brown with minimal fizzy beige head. this foam fades to only the thinnest of edge layers quickly after the glass is full.
the aroma is some rich roasted malt and a bit of charred note with a bit of a floral honey note and some brown sugar. The char is definitely the strongest aroma. no hop character nor any booziness.
First sip reveals a medium body with fine tingly carbonation. The carb is sort of spacious and soft actually. Texture is a little sticky but not coating of my palate.
Flavor is very similar to what I expect after the nose. Lots of roasted malt, some black coffee and again charred almost burnt flavor. The burnt note is slightly off putting actually. I dont get any sweeter floral honey like I find on the nose, but some brown sugar does come through in the middle and then the roasted note comes back and carries the finish. No booze, no hops. A little disappointing but not terrible beer.
