Stout #3 is a deliciously smooth stout with a caramel-colored head and a beautiful black color. Stout # 3 will tease your palette with hints of cocoa and a slight roasting flavor. We think this beer is really yummy, and we hope you do too!

Nitro Tap at Cask and Vine.
Solid black color with a huge creamy tan head that persists forever. Aromas of light roast, a lot of caramel and dark fruit, hints of earthy hop. The flavor follows the aroma, light roast lots of caramel sugar and bits of fruit and earthy. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet creamy velvety mouthfeel. Decent brew, I'd love to revisit without the nitro.

11/4/11 from notes - Growler poured into stemless wine glass.
A - Black, dark, no light penetrating. Thin head, nice legs.
S - Wine, mead dominates with slight chocolate & oak on the back end.
T - Very light wine/mead flavors with vanilla & oak. Chocolatey stout finish. Different than most stouts but still tasty.
M - On the thin side but good. Medium carbonation.
O - Very interesting Stout! It was aged in a bourbon barrel that also aged a Mead. I'd loosely call it a "Wine Stout". Another interesting offer from the ladies at Throwback.
Note: This review was from the first batch of this beer - subsequent batches may not have been aged in the bourbon barrel.
