Modern west coast imperial IPA featuring Amarillo and Nelson hops. Bursting with zesty orange and ripe melon notes, this imperial IPA has a medium-dry finish and a smooth light body making it easily accessible. Featuring Amarillo, Nelson, Galaxy, and Simcoe Hops.

Had this at the 22nd annual dipa festival/11th tripa, February 12, 2022. About to gear up for the next one in 4 days.

Pours a dark golden color. Doesn't hit clarity strides, but also isn't a hazy ipa either. 1/3" white head. When I see Nelson hops listed, I get excited, but this was a slight let down, as there are at least 3 other hops that seem to all be used in greater quantity than Nelson. Amarillo seems to the be most noticeable aroma wise, good amounts of citrus pine impact.

The taste was pretty good, had all the notes you want in a dipa, the usual suspects in terms of hoppiness and bitterness, Simcoe does well here contributing both that brisk pine note, good dry back end mouth feel wise, probably the best attribute of the beer. It looked like it was going to be a maltier boi than it turned out to be. Everybody plays the fool, there's no exception to the rule, it may be factual, it may be cruel. Galaxy adds just a drop of that tropical pineapple sweetness to it. As long as you don't go in demanding bursting notes of Nelson, this does the trick, it just doesn't have much in the way of Nelson attributes.

On tap at Tioga Sequoia Brewing Company

A: Pours hazy golden orange amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.

S: Zesty juicy citrus, tropical and orchard fruit, resinous pines, light grassy herbal notes, a bit floral, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Juicy citrus, orange, pink grapefruit, lime, and lemon, resinous pine, tropical and orchard fruit, guava, white grape, underripe pineapple, mango, passion fruit, peach, gooseberry, and apricot, subtle herbal and floral notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: A little on the fuller side of medium body, moderately lively carbonation, a little soft on the palate.

O: Drinks like a cross between a NE and a juicy IPA, so it sits a bit on the sweet side, but the hop combo kicks out some nice flavors. Solid modern DIPA
