Dark ruby hued with a fingernail of brown coating the top. The nose is dominated by coriander, but you can also get some dark malt if you really seek it out. The coriander and allspice really dominate the flavor with the dark malty flavor coming in at the back of the palate. The mouth is not too carbonated and not too thin, but the spicing is so intense that there's a bit of a burn to the tongue.

a collaboration with ommegang where the apparently fermented the famous abbey ale grain bill with the urban chestnut house lager strain, which is for one a brilliant idea, and two should happen more. its both weird and good, but not as weird or good as i thought it might be, if that makes any sense. it still tastes belgian to me which is interesting, i assumed most of that intangible character came from belgian yeast strains, which i dont believe exist in here, but its almost hard to believe they dont, could these flavors also be grain or spice derived?! i almost think this has to have some belgian yeast in it, but im not sure how it was made at all. neat sweet malt base, but made less intense by the lager yeast than in the original, but still with cool caramelized flavors, nuttiness, and depth. honey, light peppery spice, and hard working lager yeast, surprising it could ferment it this dry and strong to be honest, awesome strain they have here! a little confusing really, but the more i drink it the more i like it. a smart style fusion, and something i have never seen before. unconventional and delicious, still distinctly belgian to me. what do other people think???

A collaboration between UBC and Ommergang brewer. Pours a deep brown color with a foamy tan head that lasts quite a while. Spicy aroma. The flavor is spicy and sweet. Good mouth feel.

Pours an effervescent chestnut with a thumb of tan head. Alright head retention & lacing
S: Breadyness, some cinnamon & cakeyness
T: Follows the nose, pretty dry, hints of coriander up front. Dryness continues as this warm, woody hops, leafy hops & a little nuttyness too, just a touch of phenol in there as well. Finishes dry, nutty, cakey & with just a little dirty Belgian-style yeastyness, some white pepper
MF: Medium body, some grittyness, moderate carbonation
Drinks pretty easy. One the better UC beer's I've had in a while

Pours a clear mahogany. 1/4 inch head of a off-white color. Decent retention and slight lacing. Smells of strong Belgian yeast, slight alcohol, sweet malt, spice, and hint of caramel malt. Fits the style of a Doppelbock. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong Belgian yeast, slight alcohol, sweet malt, spice, slight anise, and hint of caramel malt. Overall, weak appearance, average aroma, but the blend is all over, and the body is strongly Belgian for a doppelbock.

A collaboration beer from two of my favorite breweries....this one pours a deep brown color, a rich tawny when held to the light. The head is an off-white, thick and leaving lots of lace. The aroma is of spice and dark malt. Some peppery phenols and a little bubblegum. Yeast. The flavor is spicy and sweet...malty and earthy, with a little ripe fruit underneath. Full in body and exceptionally good!

Collaboration with Ommegang. Poured out an opaque, dark brown color with a small, tan head. It smelled of dried dark fruits and spices - almost like holiday spices. Sweet, fruity and roasty with a spicy bite.
