Toasted Coconut Kinsale

a special variant of their stout, done up with toasted coconut. i think the base beer is very well suited to this sort of thing, and the coconut, as bold as it is, is extremely well integrated, surprisingly so even, just a really complete beer, not overly desserty of forced to me, even though the coconut is strong. i like that its toasted too, a nuttiness and a warmth to it, more than just fresh coconut might have, and it brings up some of the chocolate notes in the malt base, decadent without being too sugary at all. nice dark bitter roasted grains inhere balance the coconut well and add the the natural earthiness of it. huge tropical aromas too makes it drink lighter than it really is. sturdy body but easy down, very smooth. this is a great base beer to experiment, bold and robust but drier and a nice canvas for the coconut here. they had just run out of a mint version when i was in, im sure that was killer too. this is a little different for these guys, i dont know them to use a lot of adjuncts, but this is really solid!
