Had on tap. Brownish black opaque body, tan head. Roasted malt nose with bakers chocolate, mild earth and dark grain. Taste is a thinner version of the nose, though the earthiness is stronger. Feel is roasty, dry, but thin, missing the fuller body through the whole sip that separates the tiers of the style

UCBC's can supplier is discontinuing the pop top cans and i'm upset about that. figure i'll drink them while i can. deep dark brown brew from said can that had a khaki head for about 2 seconds. nothing left from that now. nose is deep roasted malt, hints of coffee and unsweetened chocolate. very solid and inviting, comforting aroma even. taste follows with a rich roasted flavor profile that has some hints of dark fruits. keeps things on the dark and roasted side, never sweet, lots of black coffee mixing in. medium-full bodied and lingering coffee notes are ace. mad at myself for never grabbing this before.

Near black with tan head. Smokey, roasty, burnt toast, earthy. Appropriately moderately bitter. The smoke and slight sweetness was surprising, but otherwise is a fairly typical foreign export.

16oz can, date stamped 2017-11-09
Thinner khaki head dissipates quickly leaving an effervescent dark brown ale. Aroma is creamy, chocolatey & roasty. Nice meld of flavors with notes of milk chocolate, roasted barley, earthy hops, and faint vanilla. Medium body, very creamy and smooth, well-balanced, semi-dry finish. Overall, I think I set the bar too high on this one, so it was a bit of a disapointment. I'd maybe grab it again if in a pinch looking for a stonger stout and it was available, otherwise I'd probably go for something else.

First beer of this type. I liked it, and still prefer a good nut brown

Pours a dark blackish-brown color. Thin one finger tan head dissipates steadily leaving no lacing or residual head. completely opaque. Reddish around the edges when held to the light.
Smell has notes of roasted malts with hint of smokiness. Some bakers chocolate, cocoa, maybe a hint of sweet creme, but very light.
Taste has notes of roasted malts, some mild bittering hops, bakers chocolate, and a touch of peattyness. Not very sweet at all - allows the roastiness of the malts to shine. A hint of bitterness is noted in the finish.
Feel is medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Somewhat dry finish coats the mouth and lips.
Really well done export stout - this might be my favorite American example of the style. Definitely try this if you enjoy the style or well done stouts.

Excellent. I tHink this one will be a Love it or hate it. I'm a stout guy and am surprised how Much I Love it. Dark black Body with cola - fizz head. A little disappointed the head didn't last and Minimal lacing. Beyond that, the entire experience was a good one. Smell was mostly dried fruit, which is common for the style, and a Hint of alcohol. Taste was the surprise. Minimal cHocolate and no Coffee taste, but a tart Hint With Definite Sweet. Second drink Was More Of The Same...I dare say a sweet tart thrown into a nice stout. I could lie and say it was dried apricot with a bitter hop kick, but I'll go all in and call it a hint of sweet tart... and I liked it a lot. It somehow works out very nice

UC Kinsale 500mL bottled 11/11/16 poured into 20oz nonic pint. Pours black with only a touch of red when held up to light. Dense, clingy tan head that settles to 3/8" for the duration. A little smell of roast, not much else but ok for style. Taste is balanced roast and sweet. Mouthfeel is full and to style as well. Overall, this is a great beer to try if you're a fan of the FES style. Well done.

Dark brownish black with tan foam and creamy surface texture.
Some minor spotty lacing around the edges.
Aroma is dry and roasty, unsweetened bakers chocolate, dark toasty malt.
Taste has a bit of dried dark berry and dark chocolate, finishes dry.
Light bodied, fairly creamy with a mild acidity.
More of an Irish dry stout, this is pretty light and easy drinking.
