Pour was vivid cloudy and dirty golden orange. Very bright. Little to no head, otherwise this would be a 4-4.5.
Juicy tropical fruit. Light spice, some citrus.
Similar to nose, juicy tropical fruit. Sweet, fresh, ripe, slightest hint of bitterness. Not much grapefruit.
Full body, a bit chewy, but very low carbonation.
Overall, i loved this and knocked it back quickly. Would love more.

Per the website:
"Continuing our series of single-hop IPA’s (the first two were Calypso IPA and Delta Hop IPA), we are now showcasing the Chinook hop. The end result is a nicely bittered, grapefruit-laced, refreshing ale. The origin of the hop: a Pacific Northwest hybrid which draws its name from the indigenous peoples of the NW Canadian prairies. Stats: ABV - 6.0%, IBUs - 40, OG - 14.0 Plato."
On tap at a burger joint in Saint Louis. The place was pretty cool, as there were about 20 beers on tap and all of them but KBS were local. That was also problematic, though, because they were from breweries that I wasn't familiar with. So I asked the waitress to bring me her favorite IPA of the whole bunch, which she did.
It looked and smelled fine. After the first swig, however, I says to my friend "this is decent up front but the back end is just all chinook. They're not doing it right, since it tastes a little like tomato soup."
Come to see I wasn't just BS'ing; I can actually recognize hop profiles sometimes. (SEE?! After a mere 8 years and 1525 reviews I've learned a handful of things!!) What I can't do, however, is articulate where this beer went wrong. The malt was fine, and things weren't really unbalanced; the hops just had an unpleasantly savory taste that threw off the entire beer. There was no bitter grapefruit, just saltines and tomatoes.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
