Served in a tulip glass from the can.

Appearance: comes off as thin amber color with heavy sediments might be to the age of the can I'm not sure. Has a light off-white head rising initially just over a finger's length and before the first sip it settles into nothing with heavy stickiness on the glass.

Smell: has a Bach like sent consisting of Maple and heavy hops sexy and knows but it is definitely an acquired scent.

Taste: comes off like Sweet Maple with heavy malts infuse into the beer. It is a tap better but mellow all at the same time with honey notes and hops all at once. Definitely not an acquired taste and is a very easy to like beer.

Mouth: medium carbonation with a medium to heavy stickiness.

Overall: not a bad beer and probably the best out of the variety case that it came with. it has a special creaminess to it which is reminiscent of an Oktoberfest style beer but a little extra sugar mellows it perfectly. Salud!

Okay, so I am not sure what I am missing here. A nice golden color with just a bit of thickness. A very nice strong pils aroma with a bit of maybe caramel in there, very different than most pils. Very tasty, similar to the aroma there is a bit more flavor than most pils with some nice malt profile. Finishes clean. So I typically crush pils as it is one of my least favorite styles, but this was a shockingly tasty beer. I have no idea why this is not getting higher rating but I enjoyed this beer very much. If you are looking for that very clear and tasteless pils this is not your bag, but if you want a really tasty beer than this is a very pleasant surprise.

From the Costco Advent box. Poured into a pint glass. Slightly hazy golden color - a bit darker than most Pilseners. A medium-sized white head with decent foam retention. Modest floral notes but also faint lemon and not much grain. Moderately bitter with a muddled hop presence and a slightly sweet malt flavor. A slightly metallic finish. Did not enjoy this one.

Pours a foggy yellow-orange with a finger of bubbly, khaki head. Head retention is okay with minimal lacing left behind. Aroma is spicy hops and pilsner malts. Flavor profile is identical, with spicy hops and pilsner malts. The hops really give the beer some oomph, with the malts smoothing and balancing it out. Mouth feel is medium in thickness, with a crisp feel. Overall, a great pilsner with flavorful hop presence, and a smooth, crisp balance.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 16oz can.

Poured into tall wheat glass @ 45 degrees:

L: butterscotch, sticky toffee pudding caramel gold appearance with puddly foam head

A: caramelly burnt malt

T: Tastes like it smells but more like Oktoberfest marzen than a bock

F: medium mouthfeel with a mild burnt booze finish

O: not quite a Christmas Eve beer moreso a fall beer. But I sure am glad this advent calendar is finished. Fun to drink a new beer each day but I would recommend against purchasing it. Most of these beers have been quite bland.

A- This pours a golden color with yellowish tinges and is not fully clear, I'm guessing due to some suspended yeast! The head starts out very frothy and thick, being about 2-3 fingers, and eventually settles to a layer and/or ring around the top of the liquid....it is fully white in color itself. There appears to be a lot of fine carbonation rising to the top at a good pace, and the lacing is on the other side of modest. Overall not a bad looking Pils!

S- The aromas are not so much of a Pils style brew but rather of heavy sweeter caramel malts and little hop bitterness....not that this is offensive or anything but its not what I expected. Grains, yeast, bready richness, slight citrus notes and even some very mild peach fruit. The finish isn't bitter on the nostrils, but rather of dusty grass and unmalted barley.

T- The flavors follow the aromas, and initially, there is a big burst of yeasty bread malts, caramel/toffee sweetness, summer orchard fruits (especially as it warms) and is sweet on the finish, yet clean on the palate...it doesn't really linger!

M/O- Overall this is an easy drinking beer that is medium bodied for the style, the carbonation is actually tame so to speak and it has good flavor....I just think it belongs in another category......ahh The Germans.....they never seem to let down with the brews they produce. I would definitely have this again, and the Patron Saint looks over this one well!

The name and can are right here on BA, but the beer I have is definitely not a pilsner. The Brewer's Advent box I got it from calls it a "Dark Bock," and that seems close enough to me.

St. Bonifatius poured with a little head that was very short-lived; it completely dissipated, leaving no trace it was there. The beer is amber in color, maybe leaning towards the gold side, an 8 or 9 on the SRM scale. It is mostly clear.

The first sip of the beer is an immediate burst of sweetness. I can detect some bread, some toffee, maybe even some caramel. Though a little hop bitterness comes in, it doesn't quite balance- this is a sweet beer. It is sweet in an enjoyable way, though, not cloying.

Overall, St. Bonifatius is a fine beer, if not one I'd choose to round out an advent calendar. It's at least more season-appropriate than some of the other beers in this pack.
