Nitro version on tap at St. Boniface. First off the nitro version pours like a lighter colored Guinness. Really cool looking in the glass. The head is still holding up well a few minutes after the beautiful cascade of the initial pour. Getting down to smell and taste. Yes and yes. Has a just brewed coffee smell (well perhaps after the pot has been sitting for a bit) and a smokey coffee taste. Smooth as silk on the tongue. A very pleasant surprise. I have clearly overlooked the virtues of brown ales. Perfect for a rainy fall day (which today is), but not for a hot summer day. Recommended.

A: A murky ice tea colored pour sits with no head and no carbonation. Void of lacing. Overall I like the color for style, an almost cold coffee- ice tea murkiness.
S: Aroma was fresh, creamer laced, with some fresh caramel and mocha. Add some vanilla for sweetness and sugary malts, of a solid strength, its sure to make you take multiple takes. Good first coffee impression.
T: Fresh caramel syrup and chocolate mingle with cream and vanilla. A nice sweetness of toffee and the sweet brown malts. Still thinking about the nose, that lends to a nice finish of the flavor.
M: Soft tingly carbonation, with a creamy malt base. Coffee-caramel highlights on the tongue with a medium body.
O: Overall love the fresh Verklempt coffee, which came off beautifully on the nose with a nice sweet bitterness on the flavor. Good first impression, and finishes strong. Very good to style.
