-English Dark Mild aged in Rye Whiskey Barrels. Obtained @ location. Crowler serving within 1.25 hrs.
A: A dark cola pour produced a monstrous light tan foamy head of 3+ fingers leading to a lenghty demise. Dark coloring with smoky black hues.
S: A faint aroma of the rye barrel aging gives subtle hints of a charred sweetness and cola nature but not so much to distract away from the English roasted malts. Light chocolate bitterness, very smooth nature with a good awareness factors is anything but mild.
T: The flavor showed a sweet, watery bourbon and rye nature. Small peppery-cola and breadiness. Lightly toasted malts, with a small bit of burnt fruitiness. Roasty and silky.
M: Light to medium mouthful, pretty good substance wise for 3.2%. Smooth texture, silty ash off the tongue.
O: Overall the rye barrel aging seemed like the perfect pitch, not so much to overtake the mild nature, but just enough to give gentle and subtle highlights of spicy rye and peppercorns with a smooth silty ash touch. Light alcohol nature, sweet toasted English malts gives a easy drink-ability factor, but is pretty big on flavor. The barrel aging added just the right amount of rye accents to give this some interesting character an highlights. Very smooth and silky.
