On tap at Iron Horse; 1,000th Review!
Pitch black, with cola edges and a surprisingly robust head retention. Aromas of chocolate, dark fruit, and red wine give way to a hint of vanilla. Flavor leads with milk chocolate notes, quickly followed by a wall of dark fruits and complex, jammy, vinous notes, finishing dryly with oak and vanilla. Hands down the best wine barrel aged stout I've ever had. If this is representative of what they can do, Port City would be well advised to make their barrel program a more prominent feature of their portfolio.
