Clear, very dark reddish-brown, big tan head, excellent retention, thin rings of lace
Gentle dark roast coffee aroma
Dark roast cold brew, a bit of herbal hops, toasted brown bread flavors
Medium light bodied and appropriately carbonated
This is an excellent schwarzbier. If you like the style, pick it up

From a pint can into a pint glass. Pour has a 1"+ fluffy light brown foam head with a darker brown body (hints of brownish reddish color on the edges when held up to the light). On the nose a dry roasted malt comes across with hints of dark chocolate and a slight bitterness (char or darker coffee/espresso perhaps). Taste has a crisp dryness to it with a the dark chocolate malty sweetness counteracted by a nice espresso-like bitterness. Feel is both dry and smooth, with a lingering balanced flavor of darker chocolate and espresso in the aftertaste. Overall a very nice beer for the fall season, albeit a bit less on the dark chocolate would really help it shine.

Pours an almost black brown with tan head. The aroma of roasted coffee on the nose. It's got coffee and a sesame candy type of flavor. It's roast forward and dry. More coffee than chocolate, and the chocolate character is quite bitter in the high cacao percentages. I like this, but I like the chocolate character in Schwarz to be a little lower in cacao.

The beer pours a nice creamy and brown head that lasts quite a while. The beer itself is a dark chocolate brown that looks really nice. The smell has a strong roasted malt note with a moderate chocolate note as well. There is a light yet fragrant bitter hop note that goes through it as a contrast. There is also that clean lager smell.

The taste is good. It has the same notes but the chocolate comes out upfront more while the roast is stronger in the finish along with a earthy hope note.

The feel is good. It’s creamy with a light medium body. Tingling carbonation. Slightly dry finish.

Overall, pretty good.
