Port City's example of a Tmavé Pivo is brewed with all Czech malt and hops, lagered for six weeks, and served unfiltered. The malt was grown in Bohemia and is floor malted, and the hops are the famous “Zatec” or Saaz hops. This dark lager finds the perfect balance between malt roastiness, spicy aromatic hoppiness, and a slight caramel sweetness.

From the can, it pours a clear mahogany color with a nice off-white head that slowly reduces and leaves some lacing. The nose gets a pleasant roasted malt scent with a touch of caramel. The mouth follows with a pleasant roasted malt flavor highlighted by a light bitterness.

Clear mahogany with a generous khaki head, amazing retention, rings of lace. Absolutely beautiful beer.
Smells like brown bread and herbal hops.
Toasted sourdough bread, light cocoa, herbal hops, touch of sweetness, but dry.
Light bodied, appropriately carbonated, very drinkable.
Another banger from Port City.

Picked up a four pack at Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg. Looks good, with a pretty dark brown hue and creamy finger of head. Relaxed and tasty. A little caramel, some nuttiness, a little dark chocolate and some toasted or roasted tones in the finish. Very tasty, and crushable in consideration of the style.

Didn't check for a date on the can; drank 12/24/21 @ Form Over Function Rosslyn.
A nice example of the style; nice caramel notes & tasty lager crispness. I'd have another!

The beer pours a good looking voluminous and foamy off-white and brown head that looks really good. The beer itself is a clear dark amber brown that is really good.
The smell is good. It has a nice caramel note mixed with and balanced by a smoky roasted malt note. The hop note is a bit earthy with a slight bitterness to it that barely peaks out of the malt notes.
The taste is good. It has good roasted mlat note upfront and accompanied by a slight sweet caramel note. The hop bitterness follows the malt note with a nice earthy and herbal hop note.
The feel is good. It has medium body on the lighter end of the feel with a nice biting carbonation in the finish.
Overall, this is a pretty good beer worth getting and nice to have during the day.

What a really highly crafted session beer. Light in alcohol and a really nice blend of subtle sweet dark brown malts and subtle bitter hops. Great beer.

From a pint can. Pour has a very persistent and very floofy off-white to slightly tannish foam head. Body has a vibrant rustic copper color that may be one of the best looking beers I have ever seen. Mild effervescence is present and the body itself is clear. Scent has an enjoyable roasted malt quality with hints of caramel. Taste matches the scent well and vastly exceeds my expectations: up front is a bit sweeter caramel, in the middle is a bit earthy, and on the backside and aftertaste has a great roasted quality; however, all flavors are present at all times providing a nice olfactory journey that pairs with the taste. Feel is on the lighter side and quite crisp, providing a refreshing and very drinkable brew. This is a very, very, enjoyable offering and I highly recommend it if you can find it.

It pours a brown with auburn hues, tan head. There's a mild toasty roasty nose. it's toasty with a slightly gummy mouthfeel, not in a bad way. I don't think this touches my favorite US tmave (Notch) but it's solid like the base line of the Lager Series.

Can dated 10/22:
The beer is a medium leaning darker brown and obviously clear despite the dark hue. My initial pour was half liquid, half foam, with the latter falling slowly but steadily. Second pour didn't have as much of a rush of the topping despite what was mostly a dump of a couple ounces atop the settled-in beer.
Nose is somewhat earthy and with a bit of toasted bread. There are light notes of wood and hints of indistinct fruitiness. Mostly, the nose appears to be more malt-driven with more neutral notes from the hops.
Taste seems to follow this in initial sips - earthy to dry leaf overall with medium toasted malts and a woodsy bitterness maybe being the components that join to produce such an effect. There's a light fruity note that plays at the edges, though I cannot for the life of me put a finger on the type of fruit. More toast, earthiness, and a little bit of pine wood finish the beer.
Mildly aggressive carbonation, once the bubbles subside, there is a light bitter coating on my tongue with the flavor somewhere between the skin of a dark nut and pine wood. A nice, generally earthy brew with some toastiness and nuttiness and a firm but not overpowering bitterness.
