Pizza Night is your perfect, go-to pizza night beer. This amber lager is a Czech-style Polotmavé or half-dark lager, that is unfiltered and lagered for over three months, giving the beer time to naturally clear. Amber in color, Pizza Night has a medium body with a crisp and toasty malt backbone that is balanced by notes of citrus and spicy tones implemented by the use of Czech hops. Everyone's favorite night is Pizza Night, and it just got a whole lot better!

Caught somewhere between Vienna lager and red ale, Port City recognizes the need for a drinkable, thirst quenching, yet characterful beer for pizza night.
So pouring a honey-amber hue and largely bright, Pizza Night releases a tall and arid column of froth along with toasty-sweet aromatic, floral hops and a lightly nutty character. Sweeter once on the tongue, a sense of cola, caramel and honey align on the tastebuds.
As the amber lager flows across the middle palate, it's sweetness relaxes and the more toasty edges of grain persist. Floral hops develop into a spicy and woodsy bitterness for balance only. Trailing into toasty and peppery hop bite, the late palate remains characterful yet drying.
Easy, drinkable and effortless on the palate, the lager shares more depth and richness than standard lager but is never laborious. It's a perfect lager for burgers, wings and appetizers as well.

Darker shade of cola with an off white to tan head. Nose is malty. Taste is also malty, think biscuit like with a peppered finish. Nice smooth feel across palate with only slight bitterness.

Wispy head of off-white foam over a cloudy dark reddish-brown body with minor effervescence. Strong notes of roast malts leaps into a biscuit, caramel, and grassy hop taste. Feel is medium bodied, carbonated, and has a surprisingly welcome bitterness in the aftertaste that nicely complements the earlier malt profile. Great brew!

So I picked this up as an extra beer for my birthday weekend. The nose is malty and sits astride a thick, cream colored head. The flavor is balanced with decent hop presence but also a pleasant nuttiness perfect for the season. You don't have to have it with pizza, but this is worth a try if you like chewy, flavorful amber lagers.

6 oz draft pour at Neo Pizza in Annapolis. Pours an attractive reddish/copper hue with an off-white head. Aroma and flavor feature biscuity caramel malt, citrus/grassy hops, and moderate bitterness. Well-rounded flavor profile. Mouthfeel is smooth and full. Overall a solid old-school beer, which I appropriately paired with pizza.
Bottom line: I need to go out and buy some red lagers/ales - maybe Bell's Amber Ale?

This amber lager is possibly the best amber I have ever tasted. Think Yuengling, but just a hint better, if that's possible. The malts, the sweetness and the flavors all marry to combine a beautiful, thirst-quenching lager that is fantastic!

Can of "Czech-style Polotmavé or half-dark lager"
Sitting between amber and brown with a rusty patina, the body has a light haze. Head puffs up before settling down into a medium ring. Nose has a light toast with some sweet Maillard-like notes that couple with a light berry with orange zest fruit preserve influence. Taste is more toasted cereal, but with a lifting feel as the micro-like carbonation accompanies citrus peel notes that all join the mix. The beer ends with a mild earthy note and runs fairly neutral on the sweet/bitter balance throughout, no highs or lows but a gentle ride.
