On tap at brewery:
Lovely near black body supports a creamy tan hard with a thick collar producing splotchy lacing. Very aromatic with fresh roast coffee, with hints of char and maybe some pine bitterness in the background.
When cold, the beer ran bitter and thin, with perceived hops more than roasted barley or coffee. The palate fills in a little better with some warmth. The more typical roasted porter flavors I was expecting (partially given experience with their regular porter) start to present, but there is still a slightly discordant bitterness to me.
Perhaps recently enjoying the best coffee beer I’ve had isn’t helping, but I feel the coffee could be integrated better into the flavor, more like it is in the nose.
