We're proud to announce the release of the newest addition to our Hop Series : Spite House, a bold and unapologetic West Coast IPA.
Named with a nod to the sharp edges and small rebellions that define both architectural oddities and craft brewing innovation, Spite House is everything you'd expect from a classic West Coast IPA — and then some. Pouring a bright, clear gold with a crisp white head, this beer hits the palate with assertive bitterness and bright, punchy hop character. Layers of pine, papaya, and resinous citrus dominate the aroma and flavor, supported by a clean malt backbone that lets the hops do all the talking.

Can dated 10/15:
Pours with a perfect golden color at the edges, but with a little bit of haze matte-ing things out a bit in the middle. A nice head is supported by this, with spots of lacing as I drink it down. The nose has a bready sweetness backed by a mix of tropical, rotting citrus, cattiness, and some pine resin. That types up worse than my nose is interpreting it.
The taste starts with a dryer malt profile than bread, but with a mild sweetness to counter the bitter notes. It has a phase of new school with some tropical fruit notes, but at least the skins are included to steer it from juicy, sweet, or tart. Then there is a pause, and I start thinking the WCIPA they are claiming is way off. Then a bit of pine and resin crawls over my palate, lightly at first, blooming into a moderate bitterness. Overall, if seems a mix of old and new school, but I end up thinking west coast / regular IPA is the right call by them.
