On tap at Rabbit's. Amazing that it took 2 years to get to Chicago from Wauconda.

Dark brown almost black, glints of mahogany in the light. Drippy lace, good coverage, lasting head retention.

Clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, licorice aromas. Slightly phenolic.

Slightly sweet at first, dry aftertaste. Light lingering spice, a blend with some nutmeg and sassafras. Interesting mix as it warms up. Sort of light bodied to medium, nice dry aftertaste keeps you returning for more. Interesting first beer from these guys, supposedly a family recipe from the 1600's.

Served in a flared pokal at Bliss.

I feel kinda privileged here, having the inaugural review for this local brewery. Good times. My sense of self-satisfaction aside, the beer pours a hazy sienna topped by a short finger of sandstone foam. The nose comprises red apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, wheat, figs, and a light touch of raisin. The taste holds notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, clove, light green apple, figs, maple syrup, and a few drops of molasses. The body is a straight medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a mildly chewy feel. Overall, you gotta like spice to enjoy this...luckily, I do! Good stuff here from a young, up-and-coming local brewery.
