Chocolate covered raisins on the nose and the palate - full bodied and slick. Heck the fools claiming it's under carbed- it's a still ale, it's not carbed at all. Definitely the best balanced and smoothest offering I've had out of mystic yet, grab this if you can!

Stopped by the brewery and the De Cacao bottles caught my eye. One of the other Mystic guys overheard me ask about them and was nice enough to instantly jump up and grab an opened bottle to pour out samples for me, himself, and another Mystic employee.
It pours out a clear, semi-dark brown/mahogany with almost no carb. The nose is reminiscent of dark chocolate and fortified wine like port or sherry, with dried dark fruit and an unmistakable nuttiness. The taste is quite similar, with the chocolate a bit more forward than on the nose. There is a touch of alcoholic heat, but is overwhelmingly smooth with no harshness whatsoever. The mouth feel is full without being sludgy or sticky like a heavy stout can be. It's definitely a slow sipper, to be enjoyed more along the lines of a fine wine.
The whole of this beer is better than its individual components, which is why I gave it a higher overall rating than any of the preceding qualities. I find it difficult to call this a beer, as it's so unique and different from any other beer I've had before. It straddles the line between beer and liqueur for me. Even so, it's ridiculously good and a treat I'd love to enjoy more often (given I have the money to afford a bottle or two).

Pours clear, dark brown with minimal head. Smells of strong whiskey. The taste is cocoa, baker's chocolate, brown sugar, glorious oaking, and whiskey. Super complex and has the mouth feel along the lines of Entropy. Heavy bodied and slick, but not overly so. Just an amazing beer that is right up there with the best in the state. This one is a treat.
