an awesome beer from mystic here, these guys are killing it always, and its cool to have found this on a shelf in colorado, perhaps that means more will be on the way? i sure hope so! this is a brett belgian pale, sort of reminds me of the old aria from perennial, its simple on the malt side of things, with just a pale type base, perhaps a little wheat, muted brassy golden from the bottle, clearish until the heavily sedimented bottom quarter or so of the bottle. the head is tall and white and belgian all the way, airy and pretty and lasting, with a gorgeous farmy funky bretty aroma rising up through it. i would say brett brux for sure here, that musty weird fruitiness, its not new to me, but here its very developed but also somehow very clean with all the hops on it, very attractive, mouthwatering and wild without the least bit of sourness. the hops have some nice bitterness, but also flash fresh orange, kiwi fruit, and vegetal dandelion green, growing, blooming, and also bitter. the brett has an almost natural woodiness to it, super funky and animal-esque, very barnyard, but also very belgian, with a lot of classic esters swirling around toward the finish along with a vinous property. super effervescent and delicate feeling for how bold the flavors are, at least until we get to the messy bottom of the bottle. refreshing and also really interesting, great use of this brett strain, and a very good beer overall, and worthy of our celebratory spirit! i hope they keep coming!
