Deep, dark brown where no light passes. Lasting beige head but it provides little lace, just a couple of spots.
Super rich aroma of chocolate and, oddly, barbecue grill charcoal (think Kingsford brickets). I get breakfast oatmeal as well. Attractive and unusual.
Rich bodied and flavored. Plenty of milky sweetness mixed in with the strong semisweet chocolate taste. The carbonation is muted but continually present.

Dark, fruity, coffee, dark chocolate, almost tea, subtle chocolate cake and frosting notes, with some creamy lactose sweetness, caramel

Poured into a 16 oz tulip glass canned on 2/01/19. Pours a very attractive near pitch black with a 2 plus finger sticky dark tan head that leaves some attractive rivers of lace as it slowly settles. 4.25
Smell is vanilla, cocoa nibs, coffee grounds, leather, pipe tobacco, and toffee.3.75
Taste follows vanilla, cocoa, coffee, pipe tobacco, leather, and toffee. 3.75
Mouthfeel is a big medium, gentle carbonation, not really dry or sticky, and at 10% goes down easy enough, but I was really hoping for bigger and better. 3.75
Overall this just didn’t impress me, not bad at all but I had high expectations and it did not qualify as amazing or standing out. 3.75
