Scanlan IPA - maybe named after ex-Cubs reliever Bob Scanlan? Served in a standard pint glass, the beer is a dark chill hazed copper with an off white head.
It has a nose of sweet malts and pine resin.
Taste tracks the smell. Caramel malts and some grapefruit and pine battle for domination. There is some earthiness that comes late to the party and kind of puts a damper on this one for me.
The mouth has active almost scouring carbonation.
Well worth a try but I like other of their house beers better.

Clear gold color with a short head of foam and a little lacing.
A nice hoppy nose with some pine and citrus. A touch of sweetness.
The flavor mirrors the nose. Nothing outstanding, just a solid tasting IPA. Good malt backing for some balance and sweetness, but you still know you are drinking an IPA.
A bit crisp and mostly smooth. Close to a medium body.
Nothing mind blowing or overly exciting. Just a well crafted IPA that fits the category well.
