I was scared of this beer at first, but when at a new brewpub, I wanted to try something new. The name says it all. The initial smell was huge vanilla. Very little in the way of hops or anything else to take away from it. The taste was a little more malt and a little hoppier to take away from the overwhelming vanilla smell. But the taste was good. Mouthfeel was smooth. Refreshing and above average in drinkability. It was fun to try, but not my style.

A - Hazy bronze with a small white head and a little bit of lace on the rim of the glass.

S - Rich vanilla extract and that's it. Seriously. This smells like the cooking vanilla that comes in a little bottle. It smells pretty good, but it's very one dimensional. No real malt or hop beer notes at all.

T - Like the nose, the vanilla is very artificial and not integrated into the beer flavors at all. In fact, there really are no beer flavors. Tastes chemically and fake...like my grandma dumped the whole damn little bottle of vanilla extract into a batch of cookies and all they taste like is the vanilla and not the cookie flavor you were expecting.

M - Thin and somewhat watered down. Moderate carbonation with no "beer feel" on the palate. It's almost like vanilla soda.

D - Unique, I'll give it that. The vanilla is the end-all-be-all flavor of this beer. A nice light-bodied lager with a hint of flowery vanilla notes sounds nice, but the key word there is "hint." This is a vanilla extract brickbat upside the head.
