Just cranking out the Alabama beer reviews this week, literally doubled my state review count, roll tide.
Pours a dark auburn color, that is brown and amber right? Hey what did I do with this sticker can? 1/2" beige head. The aroma was a hint of chocolate/malt and a non hop derived bitterness.
Taste brings nuttiness, dry chocolate powder, almost like a Belgian like yeast taste and bitterness to that mouthfeel. Carbonation seemed up there for style. Interesting how they got an almost metallic like bitterness but at the same time, a brown ale like mild sweetness to it. Elements of tobacco and toffee lurking. Its not doppelbock, but its also kind of different from most single bocks. Darker for sure. Would be a tough sell to convince many that Dead Guy and this are the same style. Styles make fights though. You have to take your hat off to a degree, how much of this can you sell in Alabama? Or what do I know, maybe they're into this kind of stuff. Well made, just not my style kind of beer.

Nice, clear reddish brown color with small cap and lkittle lacing.
Clean, sweetish aroma of toffeeish malt, almost cola like. Perhaps something like dark cherries in the background.
Taste has more than a touch of roasted malt but that sort of bitterness is tempered by sweet elements and the overall sense is very clean. Simple flavors that match the scent but come across as present but not in your face. Little hop presence
Medium texture with balancing carbonation.
A sufficient yet unremarkable brew, if simplicity and drinkability was their goal they achieved it.

A gift from a friend. Pours a dark ruby-brown. Aroma is malty. Rich malt flavors with a nice mouthfeel with a bit of chew. Sweet bread and sugar notes. Medium-full bodied. While it is a bit darker than the traditional bock style, it brings it with traditional bock flavors. Pretty good!
