This Belgian-style white ale is light and refreshing, yet quietly complex. In the tradition of Belgian wheat ales that rely on orange peel and coriander for the citrus aroma, the Yellowhammer interpretation instead uses Kaffir lime leaves and fresh ginger to give the brew its hint of spice. Made with German and pilsner malts, German wheat and flaked rye, the white derives a citrus character from a small amount of Amarillo hops, added to the brew at flame out.

I did enjoy this one a touch more than the rest of the flight I sampled, and it was close to a couple of the favorites I have back in my part of the country. It's very cloudy, and has your typical citrus and clove. Great summer beer, as hot as it gets down South.

Hazy golden color with white cap.

The aroma first struck me as sweet malt overlain with citrus and floral scents. It was after I read the label I realized those were due to the Kaffir lime leaves, ginger and chamomile. These scent tones are not strong by any means, rather sort of mild and very pleasant.

Taste is medium bodied sweet grain with the citrus-floral influence present from start to finish. Rather simple flavors but well combined in a way that each complements the other. There is also a spicy element highlighted by the Belgian yeast notes of ripe yellow fruit and clove. A relaxing and pleasing combination.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation. A bit much carbonation at first (it pours like a Belgian) but all that quickly settles down.

A nicely done refreshing beer that's worth a repeat.

Thanks once more goes to richj1970 for this tasty brew

Pours a cloudy white gold with a finger of pure white foam. In minutes there is a barest skim and ring.

Full strength aroma for style, with orange, cloves, spicy grain, tart and doughy yeast, also crisper grain notes. Delicious bouquet.

Flavor somewhat of a muddled blend of the flavors in the aroma. It is tasty, but instead of being a bright clean presentation it is almost like "witbier juice".

Full bodied, low carb., highly viscous, yet drinks a bit watery (?!) finish that builds with a sort of clingy unpleasantness. Beer's worst feature.

Not a fan of this one. Definitely drinkable beer, but this style is being made better than this by many breweries. Don't turn down a pour, don't go out of your way for it either.

I tried this beer at the Pie Factory in Florence, Alabama. It poured a hazy yellow with thin white head that left a nice lace. The scent had Belgian clove spice. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. There was some clove spice and hint of lemin. The Mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a solid beer.

Tried on 11/20/16. Old roommate brought us a 6 pack from AL. Not a white beer fan but enjoyed this one. Nice dry feel and taste. Enjoyed the rye and maltiness of the brew. Would love to have on tap.

Yellowhammer Belgian White Ale has a thick, slightly off-white head of foam, a hazy, fiercely-bubbly appearance, and little lacing left behind. With the "swish & pour" it becomes milky. Aroma is of the chamomile, lime leaves, and ginger, with a white wheat bread background. Taste is of all that, with very low-level bitterness. Mouthfeel is fluffy and medium, and Yellowhammer Belgian White Ale finishes on the dry and drinkable side.

Pours a clear, straw color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of wheat, pale malt, slight sweet malt, spice, slight citrus, hint of cream, and a hint of hops. Fits the style of a Witbier. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with a high carbonation level. Tastes of spices, slight juniper/spruce?, wheat, pale malt, slight sweet malt, hint of hop, slight citrus. Overall, a more balanced and complex wit than usual, so kudos.
