On tap at the tap room, into a Harriet Brewing snifter
(this is both the Barrel Aged and Soured edition of Divine Occulist)
A: pale hazy yellow, thin head
S: good nose: banana, pear, crab apple, white grapes, pale malt, sweet and spicy yeast
T: Nice layers of flavor here, first some pale grassy and light malty sweetness, then some faint banana, some belgian yeast and spice, with twangy twisty sour with notes of pear and crab apple that is there from the first but builds toward the end; the base beer is good but not great IMO, but this is a lot more interesting. Aged in Chardonnay barrels, and that makes sense of some of the oaky and rounded white grape flavors.
M: Pucker a little but this is only modestly sour. Moderate carbonation. Tart and sour linger. Hides the alcohol well.
Overall: I enjoyed this quite a bit. If you're looking for crazy sour, though, this isn't it.

Sour with a nice Brett funk. A lot of grapes and tannins. Nice Belgian styled ale.
