Look:
Reddish-Copper color and quite dark. Fairly effervescent with a pour from a 22oz bottle. Head fades, but lacing continues for quite some time.
Smell:
Interesting smells of caramel, citrus, and tart fruit. At first it seems fruity, but fades into a nice sweet smell.
Taste:
Powerful at first. Strong on the bittering side, but then other flavors come bursting in. There is a nice rich sweet caramelly taste to offset the initial bitterness. The caramelly flavor lessens and there is then a buttery / savory flavor. Once the flavors fade, the beer gets a bit drier and then there is a floral finish.
Feel:
Nice medium bodied (on the high end of the medium scale) feel. Wasn't very fizzy, but yet full enough feel. Only slightly oily feel.
Overall:
I really liked this one. This tastes like some Double Reds that I have had and not sure the difference. Probably just the ABV. Very flavorful and packed quite a punch by the time I got to the end of it. I would be willing to pick up another one of these in the future.
