On nitro tap at the brewery into a nonic glass.
A-The beer is labeled a milk stout, but it arrives clear and light-golden in color. The nitro head falls down the glass and settles at maybe a finger of thick, off-white foam. The retention is good and lacing on the glass is thick. It does not look like a "stout" but it looks like Bonfire intended it to look, so I'll score it a four.
S-The aroma is...odd. There is a hint of old coffee grounds, which suggests stout, but also a strange banana-like sweetness that I can only attribute to milk stout/lactose aspect of this beer. It suggests overripe banana in a bad way (almost like warm garbage).
T-The taste has similar notes of day-old coffee grounds and overripe banana. There is a strange grain flavor that I can only describe as paste-like and sweet.
M-The feel has typical nitro qualities. Carbonation is very creamy and smooth and the beer is medium in heft with a slightly watery note.
O-I am not normally a sucker for these types of experimental beers, but this one pulled me in. And I regret it. It looks like it is supposed to look, but the flavor profile is just odd and not very appetizing.
