A friend picked up a bottle at the Glebe location for me. Interested with low expectations.
A - Ruby pour and bright. One finger of off white head. Good carbonation. Spotty lace and a film of retention.
S - Dark fruit, cherry. Mild Flemmish red notes.
T - Sweet grain, cherry, sweet notes, booze,
M - Stronger than needed carbonation, light to medium body, dry fruity finish. Quite dry.
O/D - This is not a barleywine. More a Flemmish Red than anything else. It tastes OK, but damn, they didn't produce what they meant to. They claim that this was in bourbon barrels for ten months, but I don't buy that at all. No bourbon or woody notes at all. How this is supposed to be a barleywine is beyond me. I judged this to style, and it didn't do well.
