The Bytown Brown is a surprisingly light beer.
It is a light drinking beer complete with a complex blend of sweet and roasted malts, leaving the drinker feeling refreshed.
There are seven different types of malt in the Brown. They range from coffee, chocolate, toffee and caramel malts. All the malts have been added in the proper proportion to ensure that one flavor does not dominate the palette.

June 2019 Ottawa. Deep brown with a modest head. Roasted malt and coffee on the nose. Medium malt body with good richness. Best of the 4 sampled IMO

Pours a red-tinged dark brown. Head is beige; medium bubbles but nice irregular sinkage. Lace is good.
Smells decent. Good roasty notes with decent coffee edge, touch of spice, but sweet. Brown sugar, cinnamon and pepper. Very pleasant; what I want a brown ale to smell like.
Taste is very roasty and spicy. Big coffee notes on there, quite dry, with black pepper noticeable, some red pepper as well as notes of cumin, cayenne and charcoal. Really rather bitter, but OK.
Carbonation is noticeable upfront but settled on the back by decent body. Not bad.
Gives a more portery vibe than a brown ale. Not a bad thing, but still makes me want to mark it down a bit.

A: A nice frothy head that is slightly off white then settles to a thin cream. Dark brown in colour with hues of mahogany.
S: Toasted caramel, tasted bread and slightly smokey.
T: Again the toasted caramel/bread comes through. Presence of melted bitter chocolate and a slight nutty flavour. The bitterness of the hops sure comes through.
M: Medium body, dry mid point to the end but a bit over carbonated.
O: This was a great beer to have with my ribs. The bitterness is present beginning to end with a nice dryness to it. The tasted flavours are well present.

A clear brown brew, a small warm off-white head. Little curtains and small lacing.
Smelling of burned bread, coffee and dark fruits.
Tasting of burned bread, coffee and dark fruits, some sausages and a fruit acidity.
Medium low carbonation, soft and smooth, a good body and a smooth dry finish.
A clean well balanced brew, almost stout qualities.

Nice to see clock tower releasing beers in cask form. Poured a slightly hazy brown, thin head. Not much of an aroma today...slight hops. Taste is slight chocolate with. Stronger hop profile than the normal beer. Slight Carmel. Again an ok beer, better thn their standard.

Had this beer on tap at the Ottawa brewpub. Served in a pint glass, cool.
A-Thin off white head dark brown garnet body
S-Very floral aroma
T-Smoky malt front medicinal hop at the end
M-Medium
D-Not great but not terrible. Hop end is a little off putting for the style.

Good head over clear brown liquid. Hints of coffee and light fruit on the nose and maybe even a touch of anise. Flavour has some grapefruit, apple, light toasted grain and lemon-lime. A touch too acidic up front and not enough oomph in the middle though. Finish is rather nondescript.

Deep brown body with a small bubbly tan head, and decent retention. Slightly sweet, nutty aroma with a good helping of cocoa. The taste delivered on the aroma, with the exact same element shining through, although I feel that they could have been more assertive. Smoothm but light moutheel. Very drinkable, but not an outstanding brew.
