This is our most complex beer.
It is brewed with a blend of five different types of malt and two types of hops. Aside from the rich color, the malts add varying degrees of sweetness : caramel, chocolate, and toffee can all be found in both the flavor and aroma. Perhaps most interesting is the presence of a nuttiness, that presents itself on the nose and mouth.
The hops used in the red are best characterized as citrus or pine flavors The citrus and pines notes stick around in the mouth afterwards leaving a very pleasant after taste.

June 2019 Ottawa. Clear amber with a modest head. Mild caramel malt nose. Light-medium malt body with the correct dryness to finish. Mild but tasty

On tap at The Clocktower Brew Pub- Byward Market in Ottawa, ON.
This one pours a light reddish brown color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like light caramel, chocolate, and toffee. The descriptions mentions a prominent citrusy hop aroma that I do not get here.
This is better than the bitter, but not much better. It's got a decent maltiness to it, but no hop character. This wouldn't be that big a deal, but the description says there is a pleasant hoppiness here. There isn't.
This is light bodied, crisp and clean, with a decent level of drinkability.
I can safely say that I will be avoiding the beers here if I ever return to Ottawa. This brewery appears to be stuck in 1996.

Can: Poured an amber color ale with a medium size off-white foamy head with OK retention and limited lacing. Aroma of grainy malt notes with light caramel notes. Taste is a mix of dry grainy notes with some light dry caramel notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not very exciting.

Can from the lcbo for around $3. This actually was pretty decent. A little bit harsh on the finish but otherwise pretty tasty. Worth picking up a can to try.

A: Frothy 1/4" head that is slightly off white, clear and red colours.
S: All I could pick up on was the hops
T: Sweet caramel balanced with a resin bitterness.
M: Med bodied, carbonation is well balanced and there is a long bitterness end to it.
O: A good beer to have with apps or meal. The hops are not too crazy to scare anyone away but its presence is there and well balanced with the malt.
