This classic English style beer has a rich caramel color. It has a more complex bitterness than that of the other beers; however it does remain soft and flavorful. Our blend of four hops comes through as grapefruit or citrus notes in the flavour.
In order to balance out the extra addition of hops, the body is richer, fuller and sweeter. There are definitely caramel notes prevalent along with a degree of toffee and toastiness.
IPA's came about because of a need to keep beer from spoiling during the long voyage from Britain to India. This was accomplished through the addition of hops, which produce a higher alcohol content therby preserving the beer.

Pours a mid copper colour with a thin head and little lacing. Light sweetish aroma. Flavour mostly bready, some caramel with relatvely light grassy herbal hopping.

Pint at the Glebe location. From notes.
A - Fairly dark copper colour. Bright with mild carbonation. Two fingers of off white head left thick lace and half a finger of retention.
S - Leafy, citrus, bread, some diacetyl.
T - Weak flavour, yeasty, bread. Very odd for the style and the yeast profile is aggressive.
M - Good carbonation, light body, decent mild-ish bitterness.
O/D - Bad for the style. Very odd flavour and not all that drinkable. Rough. Didn't enjoy it.

Served in a pint glass
Appearance - beer pours a dark amber colour, very clear with a decent amount of carbonation. the head was off-white, with some real good lacing.
Smell - this was your typical IPA just not dominant. The pine and hops came through well, along with a sweetness, possible caramel based.
Taste - Taste was good, i didnt find it strong or overwhelming at all. Almost lacked the real IPA kick. Had a good lasting feeling however, not much bitterness near the end.
Mouthfeel - with the added carbonation, it was decent. had a real good mouthfeel to the beer and was rich. the bitterness and pine kicked in a little more as well.
Drinkability - was very happy to walk in and see IPA on tap as the seasonal beer. the waitress made sure to warn me that this isnt a "keiths" type of IPA! Would go back again!

The clear winner in their lineup, worked out great on cask, though it was listed as a bitter-it is an English/USA IPA. Only lightly cold, they are learning from Montreal. Grapefruit colour with big foamy head, decent bitter taste with even some C-hop taste, creamy with lots of lace. Medium mouthfeel. Malty more than hoppy aroma.
