Was picking these up in Truckee, CA. Came to realize, I should stop, which is unfortunate, because I really like the legal scales imagery on the label. No can date.
Pours a light amber color. 1/3" white head. The aroma was mostly crystal malt. No dry hopping evident. Did I mention no can date? Not my fault.
Taste, hella bitter, hella caramel, hella boozy. I'm totally not having a good time right now bro. Its just scathing bitterness, caramel and booziness. Tastes like all bittering hops. Way too heavy of a malt bill, sticky, aftertaste lasts forever and its not good. I'm thinking bit time IBU count on this one. I thought the commercial tug job citrus and tropical that didn't even come close to panning out. I did find the assertion regarding anise to be comical, because I hate that shit, and I didn't care for this beer either, so maybe that one did pan out.
Anyways, bummer, eye catching label, but giant turn off of a beer. My only hope is that the beer was 1,348 years old and that is why it tasted terrible, but no can date, so who knows.

No canned date, but possibly the mid February release
Appearance - Pours relatively clear and golden orange in color with an off-white, near finger's width. Decent retention before dialing back to a thin, broken layer of suds with a fair ring encircling the edge of the glass. Fair lacing with some chunks, broken lines and spotting.
Smell - Citrusy with a bit of dank and bread sitting just beneath. Faint peachiness.
Taste - Citrusy with lesser dank upfront and throughout. Solid bready malt undertone. Light peachy notes kick in by mid-taste. Fair herbal character hits in the finish, riding along into the aftertaste with a bit of orange pith and bread.
Mouthfeel - On the fuller side of medium-bodied with a good amount of tingly carbonation. Slick texture before a clean, slightly dry finish.
Overall - A decent DIPA that drinks easy. While I'm not enamored with the flavor, it does bring a unique and interesting take on the style.
