Recent release for Sacramento Beer Week. No canned date, just a stamp that says 'Let's Get Tropical'
Appearance - Pours relatively clear and pure gold in color with a white, finger width head. Sub-par retention results in a mostly barren surface with a thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass.
Smell - Wonderful fruity aroma of mango, candied orange, peach and pineapple with a faint caramel malt undertone.
Taste - Not as dynamic on the tongue, unfortunately. More balanced, and maybe even more toward the malty side. Hints of citrus, mango and mild pineapple met by bready malt with a touch of caramel sweetness. Finishes much the same, with bread, caramel and slightly fruity notes fading in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with fair, tingly carbonation. Slick, stupid easy drinker with a fairly crisp and refreshing finish.
Overall - Good beer, but the flavor doesn't quite deliver as both the label and aroma promise. Still. quite the easy drinker and very quenchable. I would drink it again.
