We took our highest gravity collaboration stout with Horus Aged Ales and aged it for nearly a year in Ex-Bourbon Cherry Brandy and Widow Jane Double Oak barrels atop Tahitian vanilla beans. Blended and dosed with mounds of cacao nibs, Dutch cocoa, roasted almonds, cherry puree, and extra vanilla, Barrel Aged Cordial Cherry drinks like Bourbon infused chocolate cherry truffles.

5 oz brewery pour
Dark chocolate and cherries on the nose, with slight whiskey cut
Great execution of the chocolate covered cherry. Impeccable. Lots of whiskey too that adds some astringency. Some funky dirt.
Feel is thin like the original with lots of burn.
Overall impressive to be sure but it's missing something I can't put my finger on. Way better than the base beer. My wife LOVED it though.

This is a stout with a vision that stands out in a crowded beer scene, and they absolutely nailed it. Brownish black with a light brown finger of foam. Smell has nothing that overpowers, rather the cherry liqueur, booze and barrel, rich various chocolates, vanilla and almond all are present in a melded whole, elevated and inviting. Taste takes it just a step further, with warm nuttiness, brown sugar, and fudge, distinction between barrels can be detected and both add to the beer beautifully, but for all it's complexity it is the almond, cherry and chocolate together that run the entire second half of the beer, and gorgeously so. Feel is warm and almost has a baking spiced feel to it, booze is well maintained, lightly chewy, great milk stout body. I love it because it is different and creative, plus it DBA a milk stout without getting booze running away with the feel
