When footprints are left on the Earth’s surface they showcase lineage, forward motion, and a trace of what came before. Each pair creates a landmark of our past and a passage to our future. This duality inspired our latest barrel-aged concoction of the same name, Footprints. We blended a cherry brandy barrel-aged barleywine aged 48 months with our imperial stout aged in Willett rye barrels for 45 months. Hints of smoky cherry and the sweet bite of rye create a blissful taste—one that mirrors the passing of time and lingers long after the bottle has been emptied.

I love when breweries get crazy with the barrel experiments. Please, more unique beer! Plus sometimes they really hit on a winner, look no further than this one. Medium brown opaque, light brown ring. Smell is laced with the willet rye barrel, think charred deep earth, bourbon, and leather, contrasted with sweet cherry, toffee and black strap molasses. Taste adds some barley with a hint of roast, and a kiss of anise. Warm, barrel driven, yet medium bodied and decently smooth. This experiment is a success!
