Notes:
Scotch Ale brewed in the style of the Wee Heavy or Strong Scotch Ale. Malt forward with flavors of toffee and caramel. A hint of smoke from special cherry smoked malt and a deep rich soul warming finish. It will “Turn On Your Lovelight” for sure…

Poured from 22oz bottle into glass. Stamped bottling date looks to be '0910011316', Batch '1918'.
Amber brown colored body. Minimal light tan head quickly disappears, leaving a thin ring only. No lacing.
Aroma of dark malts with brown sugar, caramel, and sweet dark fruit (cherry). Has a whiff of char smoke that smells like dark chocolate.
Taste expresses more of the char smoke in the dark malts. Lots of caramel and toffee. The cherry is mixed in with the sweetness of the caramel. Overall more sweet than I expected.
Thin to medium mouth feel, with a little of the syrupy aspect. Low carbonation.
This is a sweet beer of its style that is better for drinking with a good food pairing rather than drinking as part of a session.

Great beer! Picked up a 22oz of this at Bevmo! in Fresno. Poured into a taster/mini pint glass. Some great english tea, caramel, and hoppy flavors. Some butterscotch too. Good one from High Water.

Appearance - Pours relatively clear and dark and ruby brown with a khaki head that quickly fizzes away as nearly as fast as its poured, leaving scant bubbles around the edge of the glass.
Smell - Heavy caramel with lesser notes of toffee and maybe even a little butterscotch. Faint smokiness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Deep caramel flavor with lesser toffee upfront and throughout, then a touch of smoked malt comes in mid-taste before a bit of roast and a faint bit of cherry fruitiness. Lightly sweet, smokey finish.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Easy drinker with a slightly dry finish.
Overall - Damn good Scotch ale. My first time having it, and it certainly won't be my last.

Bottled 1/13/16. Batch 1918.
Pours a hazy copper with a foamy tan head that fades to nothing. Small dots of lace drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of smoked malt, campfire, caramel, toffee, and earth aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, campfire, caramel, toffee, nut, and earth flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a smoke presence that comes through stronger in the smell.
Serving type: bottle.
