This review from notes taken March 29th, 2011. Off tap at the brewery this beer was a cloudy bronze/amber color with one finger of beige head. The retention of the collar was decent and the lacing in scattered bands. The aroma was very subdued; all I got was floral hops, some pale malt and caramel malt. The flavors however really impressed me. I tasted a nice malty backbone with some earthy elements paired with citrusy hops, floral hops and a pleasantly bitter finish. Some yeasty esters lurked underneath and I found it very easy to drink. It reminded me of a darker version of Vermont’s beloved Switchback Ale. The mouthfeel was creamy, the body was medium and the carbonation low. Very quaffable, sessionable and a well-balanced beer.
