This is a Bourbon-barrel aged "American Imperial Stout," according to the brewer. An oatmeal stout to be precise. Very dark, near black, with a decent dark beige foam in the Petrus goblet. Strong boozy taste but with a sourish note. Sugary mouthfeel yet not overly sweet. Burnt malt predominates.
Some hops that don't stand out in flavor, but the aftertaste is quite bitter and barky. This doesn't taste much like Bourbon. Sort of a watery rum flavor. Overall this is marred by the sourish tang. Maybe eventually it will have a "wild" character that some will find attractive, but to me it's starting to go bacterial. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.
