Had a pint at Parkway Tavern. Appearance was not to my liking. Very hazy caramel brown with what looked like a lot of sediment. Smells were malty and sweet for most part. Taste was similar to aroma. Very flat with little to no carbonation at all, which I don't mind with style. But it had more of a feel like when you try a sample of beer you just got done cooking, and hasn't conditioned or fermented at all. Just strange. Would give another go just to see if I had a bad pint somehow.

Hazy brown with a thin tan head and poor retention unless poured aggressively. Malt aroma hints of yeast and peat. Molasses up front with a light earthy/peat/roasty note and lightly caramel sweet end with a biting finish. Overall thin feel.

Easy drinking scotch ale that’s seemingly boring at first but an appreciation grows for not being muddled or overly sweet

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a medium reddish-amber color, but was very still, low carbonation. The beer had no head, so no retention or lacing.

The aroma had a nice bit of peatiness over the top of the earthy base grains. The flavors were a bolder, stronger version of the aroma, solid, earthy grains and a nice amount of smoky peat, without being overpowering, and a wee tickle of hops on the finish.

The body was good, full and smooth, with the flavors sticking on your tongue without being clingy. This isn't among my most favorite of styles, but I found the drinkability to be very good, I'd have a couple. Overall, a very solid example of the style, worth trying when you see it.
