Pours black with an inch or less of tannish foam.
Roasted malt, chocolate, a bit of bitterness.
Tastes more like chocolate/cocoa, mild bitterness, overall there's something artificial about it, imho.

Serving - bottled poured in a tulip. Nose is toast coffee. Taste is much the same. Pretty one dimensional as it is lacking any depth. Mouthfeel is rather light for this style. Decent beer but nothing special.

On tap at Field Of Drafts held at The Hanger in Lancaster, CA.
Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and slight vanilla aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer with a decent taste but the aroma is slightly better.
