I am in the Jupiter area quite often, but I always seem to be there on a Monday, when the brewery is closed. Luckily, I was there on a Tuesday and grabbed a growler of this seasonal beer. They have some sort of automatic grolwer fill station that is out of this world. I am assuming it leads to consistent fills with minimal beer loss. It is a beautiful night here in Key West, temps in the upper seventies with a wonderful trade wind ripping through the village. My balcony in the hotel with some jazz Christmas music playing is the perfect surrounding for a beer tasting.
Pours from the growler into my Key West Doubltree high ball glass a clear, toasted amber color with a decent sized white head. There is plenty of lacing and the retention is nice as well.
Aroma is quite hoppy but balanced with some malts as well. The hops are slighlty citrusy but more floral. Lemon zest, tangerine, rose petals, lavender, caramel malts, purfumy and pungent. Very nice.
Solid flavor here. Very well balanced beer. The abv is in the low 8's but is hardly noticeable. Bitterness hits in the end but isnt overbearing. Smooth caramel malts, grapefruit, lemon zest, lime, mango, toasted cracker. Really nice.
I wouldnt say this is world class, but it is certainly above average. Well balanced, flavorful, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, slightly overcarbonated, easy to drink despite the abv. My first beer from Tequesta and this is a winner!
