On tap at the brewery. Served in a goblet.
Appearance - Black body with a thin khaki head on arrival. Faint specks of foam dwindle until it retains only a medium collar.
Smell - Chocolate malts. Nutty caramel malts almost as strong. Has that distinct Baltic porter aroma I can never quite pinpoint. Same aroma as a schwartzbier, so I guess it has something to do with it being a lager.
Taste - Dark chocolate quickly followed by an agressive hop bitterness. Some of that may be dark roasted malt bitterness too. Very nutty in the back end.
Mouthfeel - Medium heavy. Decent body to it. Very bitter. Nuttiness is kind of odd.
Overall - Reminds me a great deal of Tequesta's RIS. I wonder how much the recipes differ.
