Aged in KOVAL Distillery whiskey barrels for a full calendar year. The finished beer is massive, packed with a multitude of flavors ranging from deep roast, chocolate, vanilla, coconut…even a hint of banana backed with notes of strong oak and whiskey.

Pours seal brown with a modest cap of khaki froth. Hefty aroma smells of dark fruit, roasted malt, and booze.
The taste features heaping amounts of prunes accompanied by dark chocolate, roasted malt, toasted bread, and peat, along with bourbon to round things out on the back end. Alcohol presence is noticeable but largely held in check considering the 11% ABV. The concentration of flavor is excellent and inescapable from front to back. Hefty body and moderate carbonation afford a suitable, supportive mouthfeel.
Overall, this is a deft imperial stout that goes full tilt in one direction. If you like your RIS sweet and fruity, this is a treat. The closest comparable I've had is Surly Darkness, which should speak for itself. Hands down the best beer I've had from LBBC, and by a country mile at that.
